	Pratola Peligna (may) Madonna della Libera Celebrations, procession and traditional rites take place during the whole month, although the most important date is the first Sunday of May The devotion of "Our Lady of Freedom" began in Pratola and in the Peligna valley (Central Italy) in the early 1500's The painted image of the Blessed Virgin which even today, is venerated in the magnificent sanctuary of the "Madonna della Libera", was discovered by a peasant in the ruins of an abandoned little chapel in the rural surrounding of Pratola Peligna. 	NAVELLI (May) Madonna Del Gonfalone It is a feast celebrated by one of the four Navelli Confraternities in honor of their protector, the Madonna of Gonfalone. In the May second Sunday the religious rites start with the visit to the Madonna house. Following the tradition, each visitor receives 7 biscuits, other cakes and wine. In the meanwhile some young women dress the Madonna statue with rich and beautiful clothes and jewels.
